THE COURSE.

His:Story introduces you to the big story of the Bible. It covers the major characters and events, to help you learn how the core theme of the Scriptures weaves together to give a vision for humanity. It shows you how Jesus of Nazareth is the Centre of the story of humankind, and shows you how His central message is the central message of the Bible:

“The Kingdom of God has come near.”

The course can be completed by individuals or by a group, and the teaching material is completely free. Each session includes approximately 45 minutes of teaching, with a further 45 minutes of discussion questions for groups.

WHY STORY?

Many people pick up a Bible and try to read, but find the contents confusing, antiquated, or even offensive. But this confusion can be transformed into vision by making one simple change:

We need to read the Bible as a story.

The ancients read the Bible this way, understanding the Bible as telling the story of a people, created and called by God, with a clear identity and a world-transforming mandate. They understood that this was a story that was definitive for all humanity and all history, that gave them the framework they needed to understand themselves and the world we live in: who we are, what is our purpose, why is there suffering, and where we find living hope of a truly beautiful society committed to the holistic flourishing of the earth. They believed the Bible told of an interactive relationship between God and humankind, with a vision of God’s own kingly rule inbreaking to restore fullness of life to a wounded world. And they believed that one man would complete this story, and so bring their own lives to the fulfilment of all they were created to be.
